Customers may be able to access services by refreshing their connections

Office 365 users in the UK have been suffering downtime today, as Microsoft tackles a problem with its Exchange Online service.

In a Twitter update from the Microsoft 365 Status account at 11:53 UTC, Microsoft said: “We’re investigating an issue where users may be unable to connect to the Exchange Online service.”

Problems appeared to continue throughout the day.

Offering a real-time view of the Office 365 outage, independent site Downdetector.co.uk paints a not-too-rosy picture of the cyber clouds above the UK.

With no shortage of irony, one IT admin noted that his ability to inform users of the problem via email was not possible.

In an update to The Daily Swig at 15:30 UTC, a Microsoft spokesperson said: “We’re working to address an issue preventing some UK customers from connecting to Exchange Online.

“In the meantime, customers may be able to access services by refreshing their connections.”

Exchange Online is a hosted messaging application service which offers organizations with access to Exchange Server features including email, calendars, contacts, and tasks.

The outage comes just a week after multi-factor authentication issues on Microsoft Azure left thousands of users locked out of their accounts.
